Shane didn't immediately recognize Rosalie. It had been some time since he'd seen her, after all, and longer since he'd spoken to her. All he saw from behind was a pretty blonde with the orange light of the dying sun catching in her hair, and he began following her across the park.
It was getting close to night, now, and he'd need to find a place to sleep. The simple worries of finding food and a place to sleep were strangely cleansing, taking the place of any more complex concerns and making them less important.
Still, it couldn't hurt to get one more reaction before leaving to go find a place to bed down. The most interesting part of the day had been seeing how differently people reacted to a very big 'dog' coming up beside them. Many were kind, though some grew nervous when they noticed that he had no collar. But despite his wolfish appearance, his blue eyes and friendliness with children went a long way to convincing people he was harmless, aside from those mothers terrified of any dog that came along. He'd had much more success than he'd hoped. The people in the park had been kind with a frequency he'd never seen before.
So he came out of the lengthening shadows of the trees and padded up next to Rosalie, like he'd been there the whole time.
