If the food could disappear, Nina wasn't at all sure that they wouldn't be brought along with it when it was gone. Reluctantly, she sat back down, not speaking, but looking at them all evenly. They must think that their lives had been so terrible thus far. Tegan's plea got through to her a little though and her fists clenched slightly.
For a few minutes, she continued saying nothing. At first, it was easier, but then as more of the food started to disappear more rapidly, she leaned forward, thinking. Searching, really, trying to find a memory that she could avoid the mention of any criminal behavior. "Eleven," she finally decided, staring up at them. "My guardian took me to St. Louis for his...work and we ended up going to the arch." It was true, but she had glossed over a lot. If it didn't count, then everyone else was going to have to be stuck here and really, Nina knew, there were worse places to stay or even to die in.
