Helena took a deep breath, and then another, as she watched Boyd and Hannah climb up the rope ladder, still not quite believing that this was what they had to be doing. Heights normally didn't bother her, but they were usually thought of in the context of planes, or obscenely tall buildings. Not tight rope walking.
She glanced around for a reassuring face but the only one that was left with her was Aiden, and as far as she could tell he wasn't much for comfort. Helena pressed her lips together tightly and looked back at the ladder. "This will be fine," she said softly, to him, to herself. "Completely fine." Slightly wavering hands grasped the rope and she almost began to climb, but a quick glance down at her clothing and she thought better of it. "Could you please go first? I'll follow right after." It would have been easier if she went before him, another person waiting behind her would force her not to waste any time. But she would climb up right after him. She wouldn't risk any more time on the ground, lest she lose her nerve.
