He ignored Daniel, mind going over things until Katya got into the other side. He shifted in his seat, opening his mouth to speak when she went first. He frowned, but went with it. There wasn't a real reason to argue about who went first.
"Reasonable," Luther said, hands clasping on his knee. "And I don't think it has to be more than that." He paused, before leaning towards the screen. There wasn't any hesitation because of doubt - it was putting into words, if this was a true confession that made him pause.
"It's no secret that the law is my life," he started. "But it's become more than that. It's not my job - making the world a better place, one that's safe for everyone is my purpose. Letting any murderer get away-" He shook his head, voice barely above a whisper. "It's a failure on my part. There was a man that got away years ago and I've put aside everything to hunt him down. It's why I came to New York in the first place..."
He paused again, looking at his hands. There'd never been an opportunity to explain this. "The law has always fixed things, ever since I was a child. It's the only constant, I've had. Nothing can be more important."
