He put the tea down, considering the question. "I pass through Los Angeles every year or so for business - I went back a couple weeks ago, to take care of matters." She didn't need to know about his 'unofficial' work for the last twelve years - he was fine with letting her believe what everyone else did: that he'd worked without interruption for them.
"It was the same that it always was - polluted. Not just by the smog either-" He raised his eyes, making eye-contact with a frown. "Crime is extremely poor there. The only thing that had changed was the trends and people - people are burned out too easily there." He paused, then let his eyes fall, shaking his head. "I never particularly enjoyed the city."
