Who: Vlad and Diego
What: A farewell visit
Where: P3
When: Sunday at noon
Warnings: None

He was slightly disappointed that Diego was leaving, since he liked the man far more than he did most people who lived in the building, and at least he wasn't part of that small but growing group that seemed dead-set on following his every move. Vlad had told Helena that a friend was dropping by, but she was already busy with job-related activities and had left by the time noon approached.

There was a bottle of champagne on ice, along with some rather expensive scotch that had been given to him as a gift once and simply tucked away with the rest of his not-yet-opened alcohol. There were also some hors d'oeuvres set out, since noon was usually lunchtime for some people, although Vlad was usually up so early that he didn't quite stick to such a rigid schedule.

When he heard a knock at the door, Cain and Abel were immediately on their feet, growling with their ears flattened against their heads. "Fii linistita," he told them with a stern look, and immediately their hackles lowered and they retreated to the living room, curling up beneath the coffee table.

Vlad opened the door with a broad smile, stepping back to allow Diego room to enter. "It is a shame that it took your departure for us to meet again. Still, I understand how difficult it is to stay in one place with the constant allure of travelling."

As he climbed the stairs to the penthouse level, Diego felt a sensation of bittersweetness. Leaving was sad, but arriving was happy. Arriving just to leave, however, was in the No Man's Land between the two. He stood before the door to P3, one hand slipped casually in his pocket while he knocked on the door with his other.

The door opened, and he responded to Vlad's smile with one of his own. "Oh, I know!" he said as he stepped inside. "But I am always on the move, eh? And New York is such an important city. I will be back one day, I am sure of it." Chuckling, he waited for Vlad to close the door before pushing a hand through his hair. "But for now, let's not dwell on the future. How have you been, my friend?"

Vlad shut the door behind him, nodding in understanding. "I spent the majority of my life doing that - moving from place to place. I was restless, I suppose, but for now I am content to stay here." He laughed, making his way into the kitchen. "I still cannot figure out why, however." Aside from Helena, he wasn't really sure what he stayed for.

"I have been well. Busy, you know, trying to sort out a few... complications, but I think all that will be coming to an end soon. How have you been?" He gestured towards the kitchen table. "Feel free to help yourself to any food - you like scotch, yes?" Who didn't like it would be a better question, but some people's tastes varied.

Diego followed him to the kitchen, listening as he spoke. "Well, I have heard from fellow travelers that one day, the urge leaves you. Like it was a ghost, you know?" He raised a brow. "Or perhaps you have a reason that you have yet to understand." He shrugged. Though he wasn't about to say it, Diego feared staying in one place. Perhaps that was why he was inwardly happy to leave Bellum, despite the fact that he regretted leaving both Lotte and Vlad. It was like one giant trap, a living entity that chewed on its residents.

He was getting out while he was still sane.

"That is very good to hear! Complications are never good." He shook his head, frowning. "But like all things, they only last for so long, eh?" As they entered the kitchen, he grinned, clapping the other man on the shoulder. "Ha ha, you are too kind!" Picking up the bottle of scotch, he inspected it. "Oh, this is very good. Your taste is impeccable." He paused a moment before opening it.

"And I have been well. Busy, too, with travel arrangements." He clucked, shaking his head. "Airlines, they are so full of red tape!" Sighing, he pushed a hand through his hair. "So many questions. But. I'm sure you know all about that."

He knew Dracula would have preferred to return to Romania, but if his existence depended upon this building, then they were both stuck here for the time being. Vlad could leave anytime, but aside from his friends, he wondered if the vampire would let him - or even if he could. "Perhaps. If that is true, I hope it is a good reason." Which didn't involve being a means for Dracula to exist in reality.

Vlad smiled, wondering if the man understood that complications could mean so many different things. "I pride myself on having good taste. It is a skill I spent years perfecting."

Airline complications were something he was all too familiar with. "Ah, yes. Their heightened security causes nothing but problems - really, they focus too much on people who are simply trying to get from one place to another."
