Aside from the 'character in a story' comment, Sherri was more than willing to chalk it up to paranoia, herself. "I suppose interesting is the word." Surely they didn't really believe that... she'd try not to let it keep her from getting along with anyone, anyway.

Sherri placed her feet very carefully, taking a moment to resent gravity as she tightened her grip on the box. At least the end of the staircase was close, and nothing else she had to carry in was that large.
