Though she'd been relatively unworried when she invited Diego out for ice-cream, Lotte was a mess when she went down the stairs. Her drafts for the note ended up on the floor in turn - each one seeming worse than the last. The Not-Erik's words kept bothering her and no matter what she wrote, nothing sounded right. Even she wasn't sure if she'd believe it - how could Erik believe it?
Of course the mess with Ella had to happen as well. There wasn't a way to explain the fact that she trusted the Not-Erik - the simple kindness of letting her go and not keeping her in the catacombs had been enough for her to vouch for him before. But between his concern in the emails and from what Katya said - Lotte felt comfortable with trusting him. No matter what Ella said and the similarities, it couldn't be true. And if Ella couldn't accept that? Well. Lotte didn't need her. Not really, if she was just going to get him hurt.
She barely remembered her meeting with Diego when four o'clock came by and she hastily changed into dress, before heading down to the lobby. Her face was still a bit red from her crying earlier, but she gave Diego a real smile when she saw him, running up to hug him. "Thanks for coming."
