Vlad was doubtful that they would encounter any trouble, since the only kind of person who would try anything now was either very brave or very stupid. Even he didn't risk going out after a certain time, since the last thing he needed was to be caught leaving or entering by that night's watch. He had every right to go out if he wanted after dark, but considering the nature of his fable, he knew it would only make them more suspicious - and he didn't need that. He used the flashlight for illumination, but he was planning on relying more on his senses; particularly his sense of smell. If there was anyone in the vicinity, he would know - their blood would be indication enough.
"That is likely, especially since there is no one monitoring them - or us, even - to make sure we complete our intended time slot." He simply tilted his head to the side, knowing where William was headed without needing him to finish his sentence. "If something does happen, then we can only hope that it happens to those that are prepared to handle it." Helena wasn't in that category, unfortunately, which only worried him more.
