What a surprise. Will kept most of the vitriolic comments to himself and paused at the landing to the first floor, glancing down the halls and not seeing anything particularly out of the ordinary. Just the elevator, closed doors, and silence. A little claustrophobic for people who were (he wasn't), but other than that, totally uneventful. A blessing and a curse.
"People usually are," he agreed, glancing at Vlad with quiet appraisal. "If nothing happens, a lot of them will probably leave. In it for the excitement and 'selflessness'. Same thing'll happen if something big goes down, too, but ... " He left the words hopefully it won't come to that - or maybe it was when it happens, we'll be ready - but he was sure Vlad would pick up on them. He seemed like an observant kind of guy. Hearing between the lines was a skill a lot of people seemed to lack these days, and only one he picked up in his later years.
