Who: Deirdre and Katya What: Tea and Runes Where: Red Horse Tea When: Today? Shortly after this Warnings: Talk of disturbing futures?
Before she'd moved to Bellum, Deirdre would have been reluctant to believe anything so ridiculous as a fortune teller, but things had changed. Her apartment had filled with snow twice now, and she'd seen her neighbors turn into any variety of strange creatures. Ridiculous things were a little less unbelievable here.
As she was slipping her shoes on, she realized that it had been days since she'd even left her penthouse. She still woke every morning at the same time and prepared for her day as usual, but venturing out had become rare. She frowned to herself with her hand on the doorknob, and needed a moment before she could force herself to turn it. The hallway looked the same as it always did, and she shook her head at herself as she started down the stairs.
An awful amount of noise made her pause on the ninth floor and peer at the doors. The amount of yelling and crashing was troubling, especially in a place like Bellum, and she almost turned to walk around the floor to track the sound. After a moment, though, she laughed to herself, a small cold sound. Whoever it was would have to fend for themselves. She continued down the stairs.
The sunshine was bright and warm on her skin when she pushed through the front doors, and it made her pause, trying to decide if she enjoyed the sensation or not. It was a long moment before she allowed herself to smile and continue toward the tea shop.
Coming upon it was like slipping back into a memory from her childhood, when her parents would leave her and her nanny alone in a new city while the two of them flittered off to meet old friends. They always had old friends somewhere. The shop in front of her now could have been any local shop from any of the cities she'd been to. Cozy and personal, the warmth of it drew her in, and she was pushing inside without another thought.
