Around eleven, Oliver had laid down for a cat nap, wisely remembering to set his alarm for several hours later so he would be in time for his shift on the neighborhood watch. Who he was working with that night was a mystery to him, since her name had mostly escaped him, but he would do well not to be late. A pair of jeans were tossed on, a sweatshirt from graduate school overtop the t-shirt he had slept in. It was early morning, there'd be no awards for being un-fashion conscious, would there?
Stifling a yawn, Oliver had enough mind to grab his keys and phone, wallet already in his back pocket, and then pausing, he turned to the kitchen to retrieve the heavy maglite that he kept in one of the drawers. Checking to make sure it had good batteries, he finally took his leave of his apartment, locking the door behind him.
The stairs were foregone this early in the morning to instead take the stairs, ambling down them as quickly as a tired man could. Tapping the flashlight against his shoulder, finally came to the lobby, pausing only briefly. There, cast in the dim light of the waning moon, sotod who he thought would be his partner. Nothing was said at first as he moved towards her, but when she turned towards his footsteps, Oliver paused, hands held up.
"I hope I didn't surprise you. Are you here for the watch?"
