For his first outing across New York by himself, Nick found it to be much harder than he had ever expected. Even as he watched the world pass by in the backseat of a cab that Boyd called for him, Nick nearly vomited on the ride back to Bellum Letale from the sudden stop-and-go traffic. It was something he could add to his list of things he would never want to experience again, which was growing longer every day he was out of his hospital home. This was supposed to be Nick better than before, but he felt no less crazy with living in Bellum.

He shoved a handful of bills at the cab driver when he arrived at Bellum, not bothering to count out the proper amount. He probably overpaid the man, but his throbbing headache couldn't bring him around to care. Nick wandered up the stairs, dragging his feet a little to the twelvth floor and unlocked the door to 1202. He tried to keep quiet as he entered the apartment, carefully locking the door behind him.

Nicky needed his meds, a Tylenol, and to sit somewhere quiet for a while except he knew he needed to speak to Evie. It'd be safe to say she'd still be mad. Maybe if she just wouldn't yell at him? "Evie?" he called out, looking around. "I'm home..."

On top of everything that had just happened with Jack, Evie did not want to hear about Tegan. Especially not Tegan helping Nicky get better when Evie couldn't. She bit the head off of the bar violently and didn't say anything.

Nicky's shaking got her attention though and she went over and leaned her chin on his shoulder. "I could have busted you out fine. She didn't even try to tell me." Evie avoided calling the redhead any names, trying not to upset him any more, but slid her arms around his torso again, hugging him closer. "She said I was going to let you get sent back--" Evie's expression grew darker, "--which I would never ever let happen, okay?"

"I know you wouldn't have. She just worries cause she's been there too," Nick told Evie. It didn't even cross his mind to keep that quiet to Evie. After all, Evie was Nick's only confidante beyond the other girls. Nick leaned in to her for a moment, resting his head against hers.

"It doesn't matter now. I'm home, right? Safe and sound," he pulled back to give Evie a grin. "I even was outside on my own for the entire ride back. And I talked to a cabbie." For Nick, that was a pretty big step even if it left him feeling like he should spend the next few days hiding in his room.

Knowing that Boyd had been in a mental institution made her no more sympathetic to the girl than before. It still didn't give her the right to say whatever she wanted about Evie and what she would or wouldn't do. But she was quickly distracted and returned his grin. "Awesome." She knew how big that was. "Wanna celebrate? We have, like...popcorn, I think. And ice cream?" She squeezed him a little tighter in a congratulatory hug as well.

	Nick laughed a little and shook his head, giving Evie a squeeze. "We don't have to celebrate. I think I just want to watch a movie with you. Something nice though." He stressed the 'nice' part, since Evie had very different ideas of entertainment than Nick did. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"I really don't think I have any Disney movies," Evie responded, with not as much regret as she probably could have mustered. "I have action. And sports. I think. You can check and see if anything is left?" Something might still be there. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Nick huffed out a breath, blowing his bangs up dramatically for emphasis. "I can't watch action movies. They're overstimulating," Nick told her mildly as he went over to the cabinet to try to find a movie. "My therapist said I'll probably not be able to deal with any strong visual stuff for a while." He mumbled a little too himself, reading off titles as he shifted around DVDs. "You watch too much violence."

	"I am a violent person," Evie informed him, in a perfectly normal tone of voice. "I punched a wall. See if Aladdin's still there." She could stand an hour and a half of singing and animation for Nicky. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Evie grinned and deposited herself on the couch. "You're sweet." Aladdin was better than Cinderella at least. "I remember. I ended up knowing just about all of the songs by heart." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Nick put the movie in the VCR and turned the tv on. He settled on the couch next to Evie, putting an arm around her shoulders as the movie started. He leaned down to kiss the top of her head. "I'm glad I'm home with you, Evie." He said honestly. "We'll be all right." (Reply to this) (Parent)
