Evie scuffed at the floor with her foot. God did she fucking hate Jack right now. "Well. After you said Jack had let them restrain you, I went up to yell at him. Because that's really a terrible thing to do and it's a really shitty way to treat your siblings and especially you. But he's a dick so I don't know if he bailed on the building or us or what, but he's gone." She scowled darkly and hugged Nick tighter, bracing for his reaction. She didn't think he'd be mad exactly, but she thought he might like the extra support anyway.
