Daniel, obviously, had not liked this idea, but he was pretty much at the mercy of Ella's whim, and whatever she wanted to do to try and make herself feel better, he was willing to support. He certainly had no ideas. Outside, he'd paced around for a little while and tried not to cast too many suspicious glances through the glass.
Eventually, however, as they still stood in the living room without movement, he was distracted by the garden, which always soothed him when he was in a state. He'd come out here to drink before Ella had forced him to give up the bottle, and the sweet-smelling balcony was so different than it had been when he'd been alone, it always made him feel somewhat better about everything.
Yet when he turned around to peer in on a completely empty living room, he went from solace to panic in a moment and he was out the front door as if to pursue--and almost knocked Ella aside with the door before he skidded to a stop. "What happened?!"
