Cole winced, mostly because he knew what she was true, and he felt the same way. "I know he's dead. I know that. But what am I supposed to do? Grind down his bones to ash? On the next full moon he'll be... he'll be walking around and talking, and it won't be me that has to make the choice to do something. It'll be Ichabod, and God knows if he'd even be able to do anything. I thought about burying the bones, but what if he still comes back and then he's stuck under there? He'd be so afraid, especially if he doesn't remember."
He shook his head slowly, keeping his arms around her waist as he began walking again. "I don't know. Sometimes I think we're being used by someone or something to bring these fables back. They shouldn't exist, but because of us they do. And the thought of having someone else inside me, some other consciousness... it's terrifying." Cole didn't mind Ichabod, and thought that if they could ever properly meet they'd probably get along, but that still didn't change the fact that it was his body and his life.
