Nick may not have been able to see Evie's frown, but Tegan got a fairly good look at it before it was gone again. She nodded back at Evie's greeting, but could tell that there wasn't much (if any) friendliness to it. The thought of Nick being on suicide watch was startling, and she wanted to say that Peter would never be suicidal, but she knew that it didn't have much bearing on the situation, and wouldn't help at all.
The tone that Nick's brother took was annoying, as if Nick was a puppy to lead around and scold if it got off its leash. And he talked to her as if she had no place in what happened to Nick. It took her a moment to realize that she didn't, really. Not in the way that mattered; not like family. She frowned, wanting to speak up, but she knew she had to be careful around strangers, not sure which one might turn the three of them in. Instead of saying something to Jack, she just nodded and turned to Nick.
"It was nice meeting you. I hope you feel better soon." Her voice was as soft as her smile before she turned back to her apartment, closing the door behind her. The sound of the deadbolt and then the chain was audible in the hallway as she secured the door again.
