Re: Catacombs
A frown settled on her face, even as he said more than she could hope for. He was simply going too fast – this whole evening had been like that. If they were going by comparisons, then he could very much be Erik. He’d have the voices she did maybe but…Lotte shook her head. She had to just be thankful and get out of there. Later, she could figure this out.
Once they stopped, Lotte did try one last time to look at his face. Moving around him and turning so that her back was towards the stairs, she fumbled with something to say – other than the ridiculous. She bit her lip, trying to see past the tilted hood before nodding. “I can. Thank you – I’m er, sorry.” Not really, but most of her apologies were simply a way to mend the awkwardness. And normally they did work, no matter what people said. “About the questions and the last evening.”
There was a brief moment of the awkward silence again, before she turned tail and ran. She didn’t stop to take in the damage in the lobby or the blood in the hallways, simply running until she got to the twelfth floor and was at her door. The locks were done and checked twice behind her, before she allowed herself to relax at all – and by relax, going to make tea. If there ever was a time to make use of the tea mix Ella made her, it was now.
