Mina and Dracula were gone, and Beauty could just barely see the broken down nothing that was the door into R1. The door to the bedroom and study were also destroyed and there were vines all over the floor, but that didn't bother her in the way the door to the apartment being missing did. She knew the Beast was scared of the Witch, and now they had no way to keep her out. They didn't even have a secure room to hide in, not with the bedroom doors broken. The balcony and the garden beyond were starting to seem like the safest bet - if the Beast let her past him, that was.
She took a step forward and then another, the flat of her palm running against the fur along his spine. Now, with the commotion over, she could think and focus, and she remembered what she'd been doing in the kitchen when this all began. She slipped past him, ducking and squeezing carefully between the fur of his side and the hallway wall, and she made her way to the kitchen, gingerly avoiding the vines on the floor, which faded into petals as the hem of her dress passed over them.
