1203
Rosalie had borrowed a sweatshirt from Briton and a skirt from Liz, because no one else's pants were going to have a chance of fitting her. She had sat out in the sun in the backyard for a while, trying to work on a paper, but had gotten distracted by her conversations with Ella and Stefan. When she guessed that it was a half hour or so to sundown, she packed up her things and slipped through the neighbor's yard. Maybe someone in the house was watching her, but she had been in the same place for quite a while now and she hoped that they would have gotten bored by her non-activity.
She got to the waiting cab without being stopped. By the time they reached Bellum, it was nearly sundown and Rosalie slipped around back and into the courtyard. A few minutes passed and at some point, a weight settled on her head. Rosalie reached up and found that the hoodie was gone and the tiara was back. The dress was slightly different though, and she wondered if the real Sleeping Beauty had changed it, and if she liked clothes, and if she was a nice princess or spoiled, and where exactly she stayed if she wasn't able to get into Rosalie's head. If she thought about it, she could almost picture a dark castle rising up from a hazy dreamscape and a distant laugh that was not quite hers, but nothing besides that revealed itself and meanwhile, the sky had darkened quicker than she had thought possible.
Rosalie looked up. It wasn't the sky that had darkened, but the mass of brambles that had sprung up around her, blocking the last rays of sunlight. They seemed to be rooted around the walls of the courtyard, stretching along on three sides to attach to the building. With nothing to stop them, they just went up until they made it all the way to the roof of the building. Glancing at them and then up at the fire escapes, Rosalie considered. She could walk through the wall of thorns easily enough but she probably shouldn't go through the building. Someone might see and there was going to be enough trouble with Rick already. Carefully, she made her way up to the window of 1203 and tapped lightly.
