"She didn't take it," he corrected distractedly. "The injection wasn't self-administered." He'd made sure of that when he spoke to Daniel.
He quieted for a moment, running through what she'd said. Deluxe or above--he wasn't that familiar with the residents of the Deluxe and Penthouse floors. Vlad he knew, of course, but he wasn't into drugs to his knowledge. He doubted there was much reason for a vampire to bother with them. And there was Deirdre as well, but she just didn't seem the type, even though they didn't know each other well.
Then it struck him.
The man in the penthouse. How could he have forgotten? When everyone in the building had picked up memories from one another he'd come across that one, of a man in one of the penthouses who had gotten Boyd high and had sex with her before rejecting her and sending her running out.
It couldn't be anyone else. It was too similar to be a coincidence. That man, whoever he was, had felt so little regard for her feelings. That was a man who would be capable of going further, doing something even worse.
"Who lives on the Penthouse floor aside from Vlad and Deirdre?" He was so involved in this revelation that he didn't consider Rosalie might never have met Deirdre. But there were only five penthouses, weren't there? That certainly narrowed it down.
