Cole had already talked to the police before, when they found Aaron's body, but he'd expected a return visit. Between work and visiting the morgue, he wasn't home an awful lot, so Detective O'Malley decided to catch up with him outside of the school - in the parking lot, to be exact. He was less than thrilled that the detective had chosen here, of all places, but he forced himself to be polite.
O'Malley asked about why he was in the basement to begin with, about the body found and what his relationship to the deceased was. Cole answered every question honestly, if a bit wearily. He'd gone down with a friend because he'd heard someone was injured, the grave was discovered by accident, and Aaron was a student of his. He hadn't seen him in a few days, but had no idea who could have killed him or why. As for the rest of the 48 hours, he'd been at work all day and stayed in at night. He kept all his receipts in his wallet, and produced proof that he'd ordered takeout for dinner - he always did.
Eventually the detective seem satisfied, giving him his card in case he thought of anything else before leaving. Cole stared at it before sticking it in his car's dashboard, already beginning to forget about it.
