They rode in silence and she watched as the floors passed them, a sense of disappointment and anxiety mounting as they climbed. Finally when they stopped at eleven, she let out a breath she wasn't even aware she was holding. She took a step forward, her hand holding onto the frame of the door as she gave him a parting look. "Good night, Vlad." She paused, almost on the verge of saying something more, before stopping herself by pressing her lips together into a tight smile. Then she stepped out of the elevator and quietly walked to her apartment.
