Vlad gently led her away from the darker more secluded streets, since he was well acquainted with the sort of people who lurked in those shadows. The park was nicer during the day, but it wasn't too late yet - and she was with him, after all. He wouldn't have wanted Helena to walk there alone, but he trusted himself to be able to take care of her. "I think I could think of someone even luckier," he said idly, hiding a smile when he felt her move closer.
It was never exactly quiet in the city, but this was the closest they could get to it, with the faint sound of cars and music remaining in the background. Vlad didn't mind, especially since complete silence meant that he was able to hear Dracula more clearly. He wondered how often Helena heard Mina, or if it was more of a sensation than actual words.
He didn't want to talk about their fables, their plans, or even the building in general. Those topics of conversation were better left for later, when they were no longer available and with Daniel and Ella present. This was their time, he decided, and even a taste of normalcy would be a welcome relief. "If you had the chance to go anywhere, Helena - and I mean anywhere - where would you choose?" It was a rather sudden question, yes; but he'd traveled all over the world and he was curious to know if there was anywhere she was particularly interested in. He liked New York, but it was hardly first on his list of favorite places.
