Vlad doubted that Kiki would agree to stay in R1 with Helena and Ella, not to mention the fact that he could never do that to Daniel. He wouldn't be able to tolerate someone like her for five minutes, never mind days or weeks, so that wasn't an option. In the novel Van Helsing and his troupe were of little help, staking Lucy as a means to help her, which meant they might do the same if Kiki changed. If there was a solution to this particular problem, he couldn't find it, so he kept silent. The only thing they could do was hope that she stayed human and out of Dracula's reach.
He was more than willing to cast off the tension that came with the introduction of the topic at hand, especially considering the fact that their plans seemed to be going in circles and ending up at the same tentative conclusion. No wonder Daniel had wanted to leave.
"Ah, have I disappointed you?" Vlad shook his head in mock dismay, pulling into the parking garage around the corner. "And I thought I had done so well during dinner." He silently berated himself for not just taking a taxi, since it would have been easy to tell the driver to take the long route without having to worry about focusing on the road himself. "If I read your mind, you would have known, which would hardly make anything I did afterward a surprise." In truth he was still trying to modify his own defenses, particularly since he had no idea what would happen concerning their connection if they became their fables again. Dracula didn't feel the need to hide the sort of things that he did. "I will keep that in time for next time, however, I do not recall anyone specifically telling us we had to walk straight back to our apartments." Once he'd found a parking spot, he turned to her with a faint smirk. "Do you?"
