“Mm,” was the best response she could come up with . It wasn’t at all what she wanted to hear but it was the unfortunate truth. She would have to see what she could do for Kiki. If there was a slight chance that she wouldn’t change, then they needed to keep her safe. And if she did, they needed to keep her away from everyone. Idly she thought of Peter and wondered if he could help, and her mind drifted back to Aiden. From the conversations she could see on the forum they didn’t think very highly of each other, but hopefully when he became Van Helsing again, he would be more receptive. Then again he might as easily stake Lucy and be done with it. She groaned a little and looked out the window for a moment’s distraction as she felt a headache coming on, her thoughts running in circles again and again.
His tease lifted her mood although her lip turned in slight mock pout. “And here I was hoping for a surprise. ‘Oh look, we’ve become turned around. It will be a while before we are home yet.’ Or perhaps that you would read my mind.” Now that they had their connection under control it was easy to joke about it, at least to her. Idly she wondered what would happen to when they did change, if any of her walls would stay up. It made her happy expression falter for a moment before she pulled her smile back up. Clearly worrying and planning would only go so far. The rest they would have to wait and see. “Well, for next time, so you can’t say I never specified, I would like to be alone with you as much as possible. Long walks or the longest drive home.”
