Her frown deepened as Vlad confirmed her fears. It could only help so much and even if she was safe, he wouldn’t be. No one would be. And as he trailed off on the outcome of a meeting between him and Van Helsing, she took a deep breath, trying to stop her rising worry. She didn’t know the man well but she certainly didn’t want him dead. She didn’t want anyone dead, but it seemed like this was a hard request to fulfill. She wanted to plead with Vlad not to do anything but she knew very well that asking Vlad wouldn’t stop Dracula. “And Kiki? Lucy? What if—” She hadn’t wanted to mention it at dinner, particularly after Daniel’s vehement reaction to Dracula trying to turn people. She was unsure about herself, but she was worried as Lucy truly changed in the book. She wasn’t sure if there was anything that could be done and that only made her frown more.
Helena didn’t quite believe that her presence would do anything ‘good’ for Daniel but she wasn’t going to argue. Vlad’s admission that he minded, even a little bit, made her laugh and she rested her hand on his arm for reassurance. “There’s never a need for you to worry, you know.” She wished that he could be there with her. She was sure this presence would lighten her mood, and probably lighten Daniel’s as well. It seemed very unfair that she wouldn’t be in her husband’s home, and yet not be with Vlad, lest there be no Beast to be between them. As she spotted the building she let out a soft, “Already?” and an unhappy little noise. Still, she was grateful for the time they had spent, even if they were mostly planning.
