"He is daunting, yes. Dracula was not afraid of him - he fears nothing, even though there are times when he should. But the Beast makes things difficult for him, and if he chose to stay and fight in order to get to what he wanted, it would waste a great deal of time and effort - and it would likely end in failure." He was slightly worried that Dracula would still find a way to get around him, especially if the Beast's attention was distracted. All it would take was a moment and he'd be gone, off to hunt where there were less obstacles in his way.
