Who: James and Lotte
What: James swings by with something to drop off; conversations occur.
Where: 1206
When: After this
Warnings: TBD?

The last forty-eight hours had gone by in a blur. Diego's arrival had been sudden, but pleasant while the list of who was who wasn't. It probably was a good sign that Lotte spent too much time panicking about these things, when even the slightest mention of the incarnations set her off; but she couldn't help it. Even if she was trying to worry a bit less.

In her mind though, the worst of it had been how upset James had been over the whole thing. Even if the whole building now had an idea there was a Christine wasn't as troubling as James not talking to her. She couldn't have that again; Lotte was unsure if she'd be able to live with herself if that happened again. It had been a stroke of luck that she'd noticed James on Diego's post and was able to hound her.

Now that she was coming up though, Lotte couldn't help but feel a little anxious. She left her door open so that she could look out for James while cleaning up dishes from dinner. She just hoped there wasn't another episode of Phantom-hearing while James was around.

Before heading up to Lotte's, James finished putting herself together. It was growing late, and this was the first night off she'd had in quite awhile. It was something to celebrate. Her russet and cinnamon hair was pulled back in sterling bobby pins and curled classically atop her head. James closed her laptop after having messaged Lotte back, and turned to rest it on the floor so that she could finish with her makeup. Leaning close to her vanity mirror, she swiped some catty streaks of black across her lids. The effect left her smokey blue eyes winged, smudged, and slightly feline. Painting some gloss across her mouth, James leaned to check the time and grabbed a pair of heels before ducking out of her apartment. She strapped the shoes on in the elevator, and looked pretty polished by the time she stepped onto the twelfth floor.

This was not casual dress. This was snakeprint and strapless. This was about as ruched and minuscule as dresses went, really. Of course, since she was at Lotte's door, James made a swift effort to bring her hemline down a few inches as she walked down the hallway. She was surprised to note that the door was open, and rapped her knuckles against the doorjamb politely before easing over the threshold. "Knock knock.."

She turned, an enthusiastic smile at her lips at the sound. It didn't fade as much as become stuck when she took in James' dress. Not what she had expected, though Lotte brushed it off a few moments later. James was probably heading out somewhere after dropping whatever it was she had off.

"Hi," Lotte finally managed, waving her in. She grabbed a cloth that hung from a hook, drying her hands. "That's a...nice dress." She couldn't not comment on it after all.

"Well, thank you," James beamed playfully when Lotte complimented her wardrobe. She wasn't sure what her friend really thought of the dress, but it wasn't really that risque anyway. "There's a party upstairs later.." She offered as a brief explanation for the spiked heels and shimmering dress.

"Has everything been okay?" She prompted while taking a lean against Lotte's kitchen counter. "Did you get to work things out with your job?"

"Sasha's right?" Lotte asked. Her lips pursed for a moment. She'd thought it would be later and could use the work excuse to not go. "Diego seemed excited about it." She shrugged, leaning her back against the sink.

There was a pause before Lotte nodded. "Nothing new, really. I'm still hearing him but it's getting easier to ignore, you know?" She brightened though about the job and her nod was much more enthusiastic. "It did! Evelyn's got something set up for me."

"You're coming, aren't you?" James interjected with a malt blend of concern and excitement. She'd have loved for Lotte to have come along to the party. She always thought that Lotte didn't get out enough - although, she was more than willing to admit that a party in Bellum was rather low on her list of preferred social opportunities for Lotte.

Something struck her then, and James backtracked over the words with a knit of penciled brows. "Who's Diego?"

When Lotte mentioned still hearing him, that touched base on why James had intended to stop by in the first place. She wedged some fingers down between her breasts, where a slip of paper was folded into the underwire of a strapless bra. "That reminds me," James said before extending the small, folded white square of paper to Lotte.

On the inside was a blank prescription. Made out to one Charlotte Karsten and signed by a Dr. Kenneth Bragh. The only words missing were what the prescription was actually for, but James knew that could be easily forged. "I wasn't sure what your pills were called," she explained the absent words halfheartedly. More than aware that Lotte wouldn't approve of how she'd gotten the prescription in the first place, James redirected the subject matter with a cheerful grin, "So. Party?"

"I wasn't planning to?" Lotte ventured. Everyone seemed excited about it but...if there were a lot of people there, she felt wary. People tended to lose track of things during parties.

Explaining Diego was easier and Lotte nearly bounced in place over it. "He's a friend - I met him once when Father and I were travelling." She barely stumbled over mentioning her father, grin wide as she leaned forward. "He's moved in down the hall - it was his post we talked on."

Though there was a small frown as James hands went to her chest, it vanished once she took the paper. She closed her eyes and took a very relieved breath. She didn't want to know how James got it. Like the stripping it was something that was best left unmentioned. Besides, she could finally be normal again.

Lotte moved forward to give James a firm hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you." She broke away after a moment, more relaxed than she'd been in a long time. "I'll fill it tomorrow, first thing. What kind of party is this?"

For some reason, the prescription was enough of a reason to go. Music was a possibility to if she had the pills, maybe even singing...

She took to the hug with warmth and eager tension, savoring it's brevity while delicate hands slid down to the small of the girl's back. She drew away in the same moment that Lotte did, smiling softly until the question about the party sparked some consideration in her smoky eyes.

"Just a party, Lotte. To get to know your neighbors." Some of which could just go to hell, but..

"Oh, go put on a dress! Come with me?" She batted her lashes in mockingly demure encouragement.

There was a moment of consideration before Lotte nodded. "Alright, I'm not drinking anything though," she moved to her bedroom, her glance back inviting James to follow. "I don't have anything like what you're wearing..."

Actually in terms of dresses, Lotte doubted she had anything aside from a sundress.

"I'm sure you don't need to dress up," James assured as she followed along. She adjusted her hair blindly, primping at a pin before giving Lotte the sign of crossing her heart. "I won't let anybody pressure you to drink something." James wasn't much of a drinker herself, but there was the need for an occasional bourbon & coke. This party would probably be one of them.

She headed straight to the closet, pushing aside clothes with a slight frown. The room as a whole was entirely too tidy, normal aside from the mirror in the corner being covered with a towel.

"I've still a year left," Lotte said, before letting out an aha. She held up a black dress designed more for spring than anything. "This work?"

She wrinkled her nose, as Lotte's comment about having a year left confused her momentarily. A year left until - oh, legal drinking age. Sometimes, James was utterly speechless in the realm of Lotte's pristine, lily white outlook on life. Thankfully, the introduction of the dress jogged James loose from her blank-eyed silence.

"Uhm, looks great." She nodded for emphasis before stepping over toward Lotte's bed and plopping down for a seat. "I'll do your make up."

Aside from when on stage where it was painted on gaudily, Lotte wasn't one for make-up. But she nodded and smiled regardless - forcing herself to stop worrying a bit more. She had the prescription, things were calming down, and what problems there were - more than just her were keeping an eye out for them.

There was a brief moment of debate before Lotte dashed to the bathroom, quickly changing and heading out, the very rarely used make-up bag in hand.

James waited patiently for Lotte to get changed, and shot the girl an easy smile when the she reappeared in the dress. The dress wasn't something that James would have ever picked for herself - it barely even showed the knees for christ's sake - but it suited Lotte somehow. The lacy details and vintage hints. Noting the make up bag, James patted the mattress beside her. "Come, sit."

She kicked off her heels to the floor and folded both long legs beneath herself in preparation.

She sat down, arranging her skirt carefully before looking to James. Passing the bag to her - hopefully - it'd be suitable, Lotte ventured, "Has everything been okay with you?" A moment later, she ammended. "Outside of, er, forum things." Bringing that up probably wasn't the best of ideas.

James took the make up bag from Lotte and dumped it out on the bedspread in order to see what she had to work with. She ran her fingers over the items, turning one or two over in investigation. Lotte's question made her hesitate, but for only a fraction of a second. "Just fine," she lifted her eyes convincingly.

The contents were run of the mill, almost as if someone had shoved a gift-set on her with little care for variety. Lotte frowned, picking up a tube of lip balm, as a way to avoid poking James about it more. "I'm glad."

Although she was aware of the silence that fell between them, James didn't know what to say to fill it. The lack of words wasn't awkward, just strained. She knew that they both were thinking about the forums just then, and James occupied herself by rubbing some blush onto Lotte's cheeks with the tips of her fingers. A little bit of concealer under the eyes, Lotte didn't look like she was sleeping that well lately. When James finally spoke, it seemed to only be to instruct Lotte to roll her eyes up while James swiped some mascara on her lashes.

Finally, she finished the subtle makeover and sat back, drawing a breath to say the words she'd been pondering over for awhile now. "You look great. Let's not worry about the forum or the fables tonight.. deal?" James slid off the bed and stepped back into the reckless and strappy heels, ready to go if Lotte was.

She followed James' instructions, hands folded in her lap throughout. If they wrung together slightly, they stopped at James' compliment. Lotte nodded a bit of a smile tugging at her lips. "Sure."

She hopped off the bed, grabbing a pair of sandals from the closet. Slipping into them as she went to the door, Lotte extended a casual hand to James before they'd set out. "Thanks, again."

On their way out the door, James linked her arm with the younger woman's. "You're welcome," she said in sincerity, tilting her cheek against Lotte's hair with the words as they started down the hall.
