Who: Anyone
What: Party
Where: D6
When: Tonight at 10:30
Warnings: TBA

After a fairly easy day at work, Sasha had rushed home and continued to prepare for her party. So she hadn’t completely moved in yet. It didn’t matter. All her unpacked boxes had been locked away in her bedroom. The furniture in her apartment had been shifted and moved until there was enough space to dance. Despite all the moving and shuffling around of chairs and tables, the entire place still looked nice. She smiled to herself, pleased.

Clasping her hands, she gave the apartment one final look over. Her kitchen counters were lined with booze. Whiskey, vodka, schnapps, wine, beer. If someone wanted it, she was sure she’d have it. At least for the first hour. Beside the booze, she had stacked red plastic cups for people to use. With a satisfied sound, she picked up the remote that controlled the sound system and turned it on. Music filled her apartment as she turned back to her counter, poured herself a cup of red wine – which was utterly ridiculous but incredibly pleasing – and waited.

Punctuality was as much a curse as it was a blessing. With a bottle of red wine tucked firmly under his arm, Diego strode up to D6 with a purpose. He glanced over his shoulder briefly, as if expecting to see somebody behind him, before rapping smartly on the door. After a moment, he grabbed the doorknob and twisted, opening the door with a smile.

"Hello?" he called, stepping into the deluxe apartment and smoothing a hand over his hair. With his free hand, he fussed with the buttons of his green shirt, as if plucking at them would somehow make them fall better in line. It didn't, really, but it made him feel as if something had been accomplished.

"Sasha?" He walked through the front room, approaching the kitchen. He could smell the open wine, a faint aroma that brought back a flood of memories. Ah, Proust - you never cease to amaze. He was back at home as he slid into the kitchen, extending his own bottle to a woman that wavered between his own mother and a perfect stranger. "Hello! I seem to be the first here, but I'm sure I will not be the last. I'm Diego, the newcomer to #1201. Here, I brought this!"

Sasha jumped to her feet, grinning. "You're the first, sugar, and hopefully not the last. I'd hate to think how dull this place will be if only one person comes to my party," she said, taking his offered bottle and setting it with the rest of the alcohol. "It's nice to meet you in person Diego. Feel free to pour yourself a glass."

"Oh I will certainly not be!" he breathed as she greeted him, smiling. "Oh yes, it is very nice to meet you in person as well." His gaze fell to the makeshift bar that she had created in her kitchen. He grinned. "Aren't I the lucky one?" he asked rhetorically as he slid over to the "bar," uncapping a bottle of whiskey and sniffing it delicately. After deeming it acceptable, he poured a bit into a plastic cup and recapped the bottle, taking a sip of his drink.

"So, what brings you to this place Sasha? I am beginning to understand that the people here are attracted to Bellum somehow, am I right?" He laughed, leaning back against the counter. It was all nonsense, really, but it was fun to say. Wasn't that the point?

"Attracted?" She arched a brow, sipping on her wine. She'd argue until she was blue in the face that she hadn't been attracted by anything other than the cheap(er) rent. It wasn't like this place was in an upscale part of town, or close to work. In fact, she could have gotten a nicer place closer for probably only a few bucks more a month.

Maybe attraction had some merit. She scoffed at the idea anyway.

"I've heard everyone here is a fable or something. Wolves, vampires and princesses." She paused. "Oh my." Shaking her head, she flicked a lock of hair over her shoulder. "Have you heard that, too?"

When it was clear that Peter wasn't going to stop his stupid gaming, and Lena was really gone for the night, Kiki stomped around the apartment for a half hour before deciding to drop in on the party mentioned earlier. It didn't matter that it was being hosted by a fucking nobody -- she wanted to drink, and she wanted a hook up, and she wanted to be bad and forget about being a fucking vampire.

It was with bitterness that she ascended to the D level -- where she should be living -- and she strolled toward the music until she found the right door. Promising, so far.

She knocked once, then opened the door, poking her head in. She was about to make a comment about the small crowd when she spotted the glorious sight of liquor bottles -- and she grinned.

"Handsome, get me a drink," she shouted to the dark-haired man, and then she studied the woman.

"This is your place?" She sniffed, as if disapproving.

He laughed, sipping at his whiskey. "Oh, yes, they say there are many kinds of beasts here!" Swirling his drink in its cup, he paused. "I'm not certain how much truth there is to these claims, but they make for such wonderful stories, eh?"

Just as he was about to say something else, the door opened. He paused, a ripple of tension in his shoulders appearing and vanishing within the blink of an eye. Leaning to the side, he looked into the front room to see a blonde woman approaching. Just as he was about to greet her, she took command of the situation, demanding a drink.

Diego laughed, sipping his own. "You'll have to be more specific than that, Sasha has provided us with many different drinks! There are so many choices, you must choose one!"

Grinning, Sasha nodded. "Lots and lots of drinks," she agreed, gesturing to the counter. She glanced toward the door and then back at her two guests. Well. Three people was enough for a party. It wasn't necessarily the crowd she had hoped for, but it was a good start. A great start, actually.

With a smile firmly in place, she finished off her wine. "Pour me a glass of brandy," she told Diego, "when you're done with the other one." She turned to Kiki. "I'm Sasha, it's nice to meet you. You been here for a while?"

It wasn't by any means a long walk from Lotte's apartment to the deluxe floor. While bringing a gift for the hostess might have been customary, James must have thought her company was enough as she arrived empty handed. Well, empty handed save for Lotte, who was looped on her arm and lured there despite the girl's original disinterest. Tonight was no night to stay home alone, listening to the voices in your head.

There were only a few people inside when James made her way to D6, and she didn't recognize a single one of them. Regardless, her candy apple smile was on the rise, and she ran an idle hand over the door frame in passing as she stepped through. "We heard there was a party.."

Even though she was on James' arm, Lotte found it natural to slip back and in the shadow of her friend. The make-up and dress wasn't her usual and though she stood up straight it was obvious she was more than a bit antsy about being there. She did manage to smile a bit, which widened when she saw Diego. Good, someone else she knew than.

"Hi," she managed, still behind James. It was just easier to let her take the spotlight.

Finishing off his whiskey, Diego looked down at his cup. There was something so quaint about drinking from red plastic cups. Granted, it was very wasteful - didn't Mother Nature hate plastic? - but there was something mischievously fun about being a bit wasteful with friends. Of course, Diego had yet to meet either of these women before, but he felt fairly secure in deeming them friends. Why wouldn't they be, after all?

At Sasha's request, he laughed. "Of course!" Picking up a new red cup, he uncapped the brandy and filled the cup halfway. Once satisfied, he capped the drink and passed the cup on to the hostess. "It smells very good, I'll have to sample that a bit later." Though Diego enjoyed a social drink, his experiences had taught him the perils of forgetting moderation. Losing control of your tongue was one of the most dangerous things you could do, aside from losing control of your body. Though Diego highly doubted that these nice ladies would be malicious, it was a habit that he couldn't avoid.

Just as he was about to ask the blonde again which drink she wanted, Diego was distracted by two new arrivals. He turned, raising a hand in greeting. "Hello! Welcome to the party!" Just as he was about to introduce himself, he recognized the shy girl behind the outgoing brunette. "Lotte!" Setting down his cup, Diego clapped twice as he jogged towards the women, extending a hand to the dancer. "So you came!" Without asking, he clasped her free hand, resting his other hand on her free shoulder. He didn't seem to notice that he was bracketing the poor girl between himself and her friend, sweeping them along towards the kitchen.

As they walked, he looked to Lotte's friend, grinning. "Hello, I'm Diego! I'm so glad you were able to convince Lotte to have a bit of fun, eh?" He laughed, detaching from the blonde dancer's side to move towards the counter of drinks. "What would you two like to drink? I've become the bartender, I think!"

Kiki frowned automatically when the two women arrived -- her default response to competition -- but she immediately brightened, giving the hostess a cheery smile.

"Sasha, I'm Kiki Curren. Diego, baby, rum and diet coke." When the man bounded over to greet the new arrivals, she narrowed her eyes, annoyed, and she stomped into the kitchen.

Now Sasha was happy. There were more people, and even better that Diego seemed to know the one. They were both lovely women, and Sasha loved to be with pretty faces. After a quick sip of her brandy, she set it down and stood. She threw a quick glance over her shoulder to Kiki, who was stomping about the kitchen in the most adorably petulant manner. "Kiki, it's absolutely wonderful to meet you, sugar," she said warmly.

Approaching Diego and his friend - Lotte, was it? What a cutie - she extended a hand. "Lotte? I'm Sasha." Sasha turned to the woman beside Lotte and was struck by how familiar she looked. But Sasha couldn't for the life of her place the face. "Sasha," she said, offering her hand to the other woman as well. "Nice to meet both of you. Feel free to grab a drink. There are some snacks in the living room." She gestured behind her in a distracted manner.

She knew she was staring, but she couldn't help it. It annoyed her that she couldn't place Lotte's friend, and damned if it wouldn't bother her for the rest of the night. She hoped a name would help her with that.

When the man bounded toward them with unwarranted recognition on his face, James' brows skewed high with a cool and discerning shakedown of her eyes. Lotte had mentioned Diego while they'd been getting ready in her apartment. He had a functionally harmless smile and knew how to spin a good story, it was enough to take James' edge off and part a slim grin as they migrated toward the liquor.

The cool blond in the kitchen had the fire of annoyance on her face and James returned it with a smile that didn't beckon introduction, but simply considerable amusement.

"Hi, Sasha," attention fell back to the hostess when she extended her hand, and James took it with a firm slip of fingers that didn't shake or feign delicacy. "I'm James - and Diego," stormcloud eyes swept to him with a keen grin as he meddled with the variety of drinks and awaited her order, "Surprise me."

The positioning may have been awkward between the two, but Lotte felt safe with James on one side and Diego on the other. Neither were going to do anything to her - and while Kiki had stormed out, Sasha seemed perfectly nice. Her smile came a bit easier and she shook her head at the mention of drinks. "Too young, unless you've got water?"

It was meant to be a joke, but suddenly the awkwardness was back. Rule-breaking was just something Lotte didn't do, like breaking promises and not washing her hands after she sneezed. Even if other people didn't think that way.

"Did we miss much?" Lotte asked, hoping she hadn't been too impolite.

Though he wouldn't admit it, Diego was very surprised that the "James" from the forum was not a man, but a beautiful woman. It almost made him feel sexist to be so surprised, but the feeling soon passed. After all, James was a man's name, and it wasn't sexist to distinguish between men and women's names. However, he didn't skip a beat.

He had caught the angry blonde's request, despite her childish behavior, and set about to mixing up a rum and coke before anything. However, that wouldn't stop him from making conversation as he worked. "Ah, you like surprises, eh? Well not to worry, I think I can come up with something." Glancing at the brunette over his shoulder, he gave her a playful wink before turning back to pour the rum into the half-cup of coke, swirling the mixture as he went. "And, a rum and coke!" He turned, holding the cup out to the blonde. After she took it, he looked to Lotte, waggling a finger.

"Oh I keep forgetting, you're still a baby, eh? So grown up now, and you're still so young!" He laughed to himself as if this were a very funny thing, turning towards the kitchen counter to mix up something. There was an array of juices and liquors to choose from, and he wasn't about to pick something boring. It had to be interesting, because what fun was life if you went through it only having boring drinks?

After a bit of indecision, he committed to a Regina's Special, a fruity drink with a kick. After mixing it up, he handed the red cup to James, smiling broadly. "Enjoy!" Looking to Lotte, he shook his head at her question. "Oh, no, we have only just started! You are not late at all."

Kiki hated that some of the guests knew each other already and so she added more rum to her drink, wanting to get over her insecurity and anxiety. When she heard one of the girls ask for water, she snorted, and she started working on the drink, nearly chugging it.

( skipping sasha this round, upon request )

She took her cup from Diego with a polite incline of the head. When Lotte commented about wanting water, James hid her smirk behind the plastic rim of her cocktail. If this was a larger party, Lotte would have surely gotten hell for not drinking. But, as it was, James figured it was a good thing for Lotte to speak up for herself. Lifting her drink a a sip, James found it unfavorably fruity, but still hefted the cup in a gentle cheers before dismissing herself to the kitchen.

"I'm James," she introduced herself to the blond girl chugging her drink by the kitchen counter.

"What kind of fucking name is that?" Kiki snapped, then she reached possessively for the bottle of rum and splashed a hearty refill into her plastic cup. "I'm Kiki Curren." She waited for the welcome gasp of recognition that would surely bolster her mood, and so she offered warmly in anticipation: "But let's keep that on the DL, if you don't mind."

Sasha took the cup from Diego and tossed back a mouthful. The burn was delightful, and she was looking forward to getting totally trashed. She always did getting like wasted with friends. It was much more enjoyable than getting trashed on her own.

"So, Lotte," she said, turning to the pretty little blonde. "How are you? How long have you been here?" She smiled, crossing her legs and tugging gently at the skirt of her little red dress. "And you, Diego? I've only been here a bit, obviously. Know any juicy gossip?"

"It's French," she explained coolly from behind the rim of her cup. She used it's plastic to disguise the brief shred of amusement that curved her mouth. If James was being sarcastic, it was hard to tell, her tone was quite dry.

"On the.. DL.." James repeated slowly. The name Kiki Curren was naturally familiar. Enough so that, although James had never met the woman until now, she was fairly sure of what to expect. When Kiki eagerly refilled her cup, James quirked a brow and continued. "..I think I can do that." She wouldn't tell a soul.

French my ass, Kiki thought, but she didn't say anything. Instead, she gave the woman an icy smile and poured some more diet coke into her cup.

"Where do you live?" Her voice was impatient; she hated making small talk but she didn't want to be the lush drinking alone in the corner, so she made herself interact with the skinny brunette. "What do you do?"

"I live on the fifth floor," she said, reclining back against the counter with a roll of toned shoulders. The metallic snakeskin print of her dress shimmered under the light, as if it was alive.

James easily read the impatient, haughty boredom on Kiki's face - bold as a neon strip sign in the dark. Still, James hardly looked offended - she seemed impervious. The sharp tune of her focus was almost predatory, but when Kiki asked what she did, James dropped her eyes to her drink.

"I usually take my clothes off," nonchalant as she sipped.

Kiki went still, glass halfway to her mouth, and she stared at the other woman. "Shut the fuck up!" Looking James up and down, Kiki lifted an eyebrow. "You've got the body for it," she said with a hint of admiration, and she finally managed to bring glass to mouth. "Are you at one of those nasty cheap clubs or something classier?"

She smiled pleasantly when Kiki complimented her. She doubted Kiki was the type to give them regularly, and James accepted it gratefully.

"Something a little in between.." James shrugged in ambivalence. The club she worked at wasn't even near being the most glamorous in the city, but it wasn't a completely slum. Yes, half the dancers were coked up babydolls, and the bartender had a glass eye.. but it was the kind of hearty, obscure club that was renowned for it's talent and strong drinks more than it's elegance.

"You moved in here?" She might have read something on the forum about it, but lately James tried to avoid her laptop as much as possible. She almost didn't even want to know who was moving in these days.

"Crashing with a friend," she replied airily, and she leaned forward, confiding. "I just ended an engagement." The rapid consumption of rum on an empty belly made her feel warm and expansive, and she took a step closer to James. "I needed somewhere to be anonymous, you know?"

Kiki frowned at James, clearly baffled at her question. "Why wouldn't I?" Brows knitted, she gave the other woman a look of amused puzzlement. "He's rich, for one; two, he fucking knows everyone; and three, he's manager of the fucking hottest club in London." At the mention of Vlad, she made a dismissive gesture and shrugged again, less cold. "Him, Lena, Ed, I'm just fucking around, you know?"

"London?" She asked speculatively, as if the idea of the city was foreign to her somehow. Then again, after having moved to New York, James couldn't imagine why anyone would willingly live anywhere else. She smiled when Kiki shrugged, like the broken engagement hardly mattered.

The automatic vote of confidence cheered Kiki and she shrugged again, this time all winsome coquette. "Maybe. But I don't think I'm fucking ready to meet someone." Ed immediately came to mind and she ignored the thought, even announcing: "I gave up monogamy for Lent. I'm so fucking over relationships," and she gave the dark-haired woman a significant look, expecting immediate agreement.

"Oh, you don't have to tell me," James laughed, catching the countertop's pale edge with her hands and drawing herself onto it for a seat. Bare legs dangled from the brink of her makeshift throne before crossing scantily.

"I've never really done well in a jail cell." Relationships, shackles, marriage.. through trial and error, James knew it was all one more thing just trying to keep her down.
