"Yeah, sure you can," John replied. "But let me show you this, first. If someone's coming at you and you can pull this, you'll have them on the ground before they can grab you."
Shifting, he reached out and lightly grabbed her wrist with his hand. "I'm going to walk through this and move you around a bit," he told her. "So, first. They're coming toward you, probably with a weapon. You reach out and grab their wrist, like so." He wiggled the hand holding her wrist. "Then pull forward." Gently, John guided her forward. "Their momentum will make this easier. When they're close enough, you knee them real damn hard in the stomach, and no one likes getting the wind knocked out of them, and release their wrist. Drop the leg you used to knee them with your foot inside theirs." He slid his left foot behind hers and knocked her heel with the side of his foot. "Then just guide them down to the ground. Hard."
Releasing her, John stepped back. "Your turn," he said with a grin.
