"I also doubt that he could have spoken so many languages so well if he were an animal," Deirdre laughed softly. "Nor utilized the keyboard quite so deftly."
Deirdre felt herself nodding and her eyebrows going up just slightly in respect. She had known that Vlad had to be successful enough to afford living on the penthouse floor, but hadn't expected his business to be that extensive, and her estimation of him went up even more. "I'm only just on my own, but it has worked for me so far." Once she'd gotten past the first few months of Alan helping her set things up, she'd done everything else herself, and it was something she prided herself on.
"It is nice to be able to do some of my work from home. A lot of what I do is observing my clients' businesses, so I must venture out for that. But I'm able to determine when those appointments will be." She was comfortable talking about business, everything about it seeming reasonable and civilized. She settled into the easy conversation, wine glass held delicately in her hand as they spoke. "Has your firm been very successful here so far? Or are we going to be losing you to Europe again soon?" She smiled, almost a joke, but she was interested in knowing at least a little more about her neighbor.
