She tried to get outside the city as quickly as she could, moving away from the reckless cab drivers and angry horns. As much as she liked New York, she hated driving in it, which was why the car had been a particularly unfitting gift. "That's horrible," she frowned at him in the mirror. "How can they blame him for something he has no control over?" Noticing his flinch, she touched his shoulder reassuringly, keeping her eyes on the road ahead.
"It'll be quieter soon," she explained. "Once we get on the highway."
