The movement was so surprising, so unlike anything he'd done before, that she didn't immediately react. She just went where he led and pulled her long hair forward over her shoulder so he could see. The claw marks, for they were more claws than nail marks, were deep rather than long; five, deep puncture marks on each shoulder.
When he said he was an expert, she looked over her shoulder at him, but it was the quip about cooking that made her smile and got her talking. "I could cook, but you'd have to do the dishes," she teased. She didn't add that he would probably look good doing the dishes; better to keep that to herself, though her eyes went a little mischievous at the thought.
