"Let me see?" she asked quietly, still looking into his eyes as she asked. It was still a question, not a demand, and she didn't move her hand from the blanket, even though she did not tug again. She could see the rise and fall of his shoulders, and it occurred to her that she had been the scared one the day before, but he was much more frightened than she was now.
When he looked around the room, she touched her fingers to his jaw. "Something with us," she said truthfully. "I don't think it's the building, Daniel. I think it's us."
