She shook her head, letting him know that he didn't have to apologize, and she put a hand on his shoulder that said stay still. She stood as soon as he freed her arm; her wrist would bruise, but that was unimportant right now. She didn't notice the vines at first, and they edged back for her as she ran to his bedroom looking for a blanket.
The path remained clear as she dragged the blanket back to him, handing it to him as she knelt beside him again. She was torn between making him something to take the hurt away, and staying beside him. She had no idea if they were going to change back at any moment, and she didn't want him to be alone.
