She took the mug, but she had also watched him pour it, and whether that was purely Irene or Iris' influence, it was hard to tell. Either way, she was grateful, and bestowed another one of her melting smiles, so called because they were quite earnest. She sat down where she was bid, curling her fingers around the cup and staring into it for a while.
"It is horrid. The lobby is... is adequate, but the apartment... You know it is utterly bare, Mr. Holmes? There is barely any furniture, nothing on the walls--it looks like a room at a sanitorium." She shuddered a little, then touched the rim of the mug to her lips and breathed in the steam. "I was not raised to wealth but even the poor can make some effort at brightening their environment. London's squalor is, at least, of character." She gave him a hopeless look. "I'm babbling on. You have the least idea of what I mean?"
