He did not expect her to fear him, he acknowledged her as the superior of power and had not even thought of physically challenged her presence, even with the defense of the tiger in his den--but still, he did not comprehend her presence except where it concerned him. Slow to catch on to the transfer of attention (threat?), he slowly lifted his head and then turned it to look at Ella, in unintentional curiosity as to her response.
