She sighed. "You gotta be better about making friends," she said, hands on her hips. "Now, you sit like a good wolf and be nice to my new friend," she ordered. "I'm already plenty cross at you for leaving when I thought you were staying put like you promised," she chided.
She smiled back at John, eyes going a touch clearer. "He's much nicer when he ain't furry like this. He still don't talk much, but he don't growl as much either," she explained.
"We're on our way to see the vampire. You gonna be nice and come with us, or am I gonna have to lock you in the apartment?" she asked the wolf, threatening. Mother and Grandmother shook their heads at her, but she ignored them. They were getting very annoying.
