She gasped when she saw him, because she'd fully thought that she would hear something that big sneak up on her, and she might have been expecting him to have moved, but not that much. Her heart was pounding in her chest, and her fear was a tangible thing for a moment, blending and swirling with the scent of roses.
She didn't shy away, however, despite the fact that he made her feel like something fragile and utterly tiny. Her chin tipped just a touch, and she held her ground. "You're good at sneaking," she finally told him, after her pulse had calmed and the fear had melted back to the curious-caution she'd been exuding since she'd been in the apartment.
"Do you have flowers?" she asked him hopefully. "Maybe on the balcony?" How she knew there was a balcony was something she didn't dwell on.
