He snorted, refusing to believe her. The idea of her being right wasn't even considered. "The law favors no one. No one is above it, least of all you."
So caught up in her doubt of the law and her ridiculousity, he didn't see the knife until it entered his thigh. He grimaced but didn't let any sound come from him - it wouldn't help him in this situation. He knew better than to move the knife and winced as the pain erupted. He moved to stumble towards her, using one hand to point his gun at her below.
"Salope," he hissed. He would see her in jail for this, attacking a man of the law.
