She liked that he laughed so much. It was unaffected. You could fake laughter, but Iris could think of no reason why he would bother. It was one of the more difficult expressions to fake, at any rate. As he pointed out, there was nothing about Iris that was unaffected. The contrast was strong at that moment; she mused on it a moment before answering. "How to be myself? Not as long as you'd think." She shifted in her chair, settling back into her cloud of certainty and sweet musk.
She grinned at him. "That doesn't have anything to do with the topic. I can be at any place and the people who are there with me have a connection to that space just by being there, but it doesn't mean anything more than there they are, in that space." She paused, touched her temple again, and put her elbow on the arm of her chair. "Unless they're there for the purpose of being in the same space, of course."
