"He ain't thinking," Boyd said knowingly. "He's just reacting, just scared. Few days back, when I went to see him, it took almost a full hour to get him to the point of being normal, not being scared or jumpy around me, and he ain't ever like that with me. He ain't thinking," she repeated, softer this time, and when the cab stopped, she climbed out and just stared at the door as she slipped on the mittens, wincing visibly.
She looked at Rosalie. "We knocking?" she asked, handing her ID to the man watching the gate to Daniel's villa. "Or we walking in?" she asked, as the guard opened the gate. The walk to the villa was short from there, and she looked over at Rosalie. "Knocking," she finally decided. "If he don't open, it ain't like he can run from us anywhere."
