She was clutching at James so much that she didn't even notice them leave. In a lifetime filled with other people being attacked and killed in trailer parks, she couldn't fathom someone walking away and not raping or murdering them. It didn't make any sense to her, so she didn't immediately registered their departure.

Once she did realize they were gone, it wasn't the blood on her chin and temple she thought about as she sat up. "Who is the Giancoma?" she asked, even as she touched a finger gently to the blood on James' throat. Oh God we need to get out of here, playing in her mind in a delayed manner.
