Hannah knew it would be bad, she knew that but it still didn't prepare her for his anger. Her pathetic attempt at avoiding his grasp was an utter failure, but even as his fingers dug into her flesh she still tried to pull away. He was going to torture her no matter what she did, so what did it matter? At least if she fought there was some kind of a chance. Waves of pain shot upward and blurred her vision, and for a second she expected to feel the cold edge of the blade slice into her skin once more. "Stop," she cried, her voice strained to the point of breaking. What he said didn't make sense, but she couldn't stand the sound of his voice any longer.
Her brain barely had time to register the fact that she was free before she collided heavily with the wall. Everything seemed to happen at once, the resounding thump echoing within her head and her lungs suddenly being devoid of any air. For a blessed moment everything went numb, but as she slid to the floor in an almost unconscious movement it passed, bringing with it the full power of the pain Liam had inflicted. It was instinct that propelled her to crawl forward, having no specific destination in mind other than far away from the man who was now clutching his head as if in agony.
Every breath felt like a knife in her chest and her vision was still woozy, but all she knew was that she had to get away. Her fingers made contact with the wall, a couch, a table - but she needed the door. Damn it, where was the door? A desperate sob managed to escape, practically tearing itself from her throat. She could hear Liam talking to himself, talking to her, and for some reason she turned back to see exactly what he was doing.
She watched in wide-eyed horror as he slammed a fist against the counter, helplessly frozen as his voice changed from a harsh growl to... to a tone that sounded more like Emery than his brother.
"Oh my God," she whispered, unaware of the tears flowing down her cheeks. "Jesus--" Still on all fours, she began to back away, unable to tear her gaze from what was happening before her.
