"I didn't bribe you; I merely brokered a deal," she replied, and the answer was straight and honest, having noticed his ironic look. When his fingers traced her knee, she looked down at them, her breath catching for just a second, and as she looked back at his face. The irony of swooning over such a small touch wasn't lost on her.
"Shakespeare's Winter's Tale," she said, sliding down to sit on the counter in front of him, motioning toward the discarded coffee. "I read quite a bit as a child, and I used to try to memorize entire novels while in my bed at night," she admitted, not delving deeper into the confession than that. "I have to look things up if they're longer, like when we're speaking in letters or on the forums." She reached out again, tugged a curl. "I'm nowhere near perfect, Daniel," she said honestly, a comment referring back to his apparent notion that she wouldn't bribe someone. "I'm riddled with faults."
