anonymous feedback post

{The voice post this time around doesn't even leave a pretense of being a transcription of the post itself. That record scratch noise is back again. There is a low, dirty-minded chuckle--possibly male, though it's difficult to be sure--and the the recording kicks in, with all the requisite cracks and pops of a record.

It begins with a woman crying.

At first her sobs are small, and then they get more and more intense, more terrified, more broken. Then they start to go beyond human noises, becoming more and more ragged, degenerating. Sam and Cole will recognize this as the crying Jude did leading up until her death. Anyone else might recognize her voice in those sobs, though it isn't easy to tell that it's her.

Behind the sobs there is a building noise. It begins as a low hum and grows louder and louder, until it drowns the woman out. The noise is distinctly mechanical, and when it hits its apex there is a distinct sizzling of electricity, not unlike that made by the snapping lightning inside a plasma sphere. The cries stop. The sound goes on for some time, then ends abruptly, accompanied by a powering down of the humming.

There are a few more cracks and pops and hisses off the vinyl, then silence.}

{The voice post plays whether the person reading the post clicks or not, kicking on about ten seconds after the page has loaded. It's a male voice reading the voice post. He sounds perfectly normal and upbeat, but towards the end of the recording, static begins to cut in. It washes over his speech until it's all anyone can hear.

The voice post continues to play nothing but static. The only way of getting rid of it is to actually turn one's computer off, but if one goes to turn on any other electronic devices in their apartment, they'll find nothing but static from them as well--TVs, radios, ipods. Then, after about five minutes, the static stops. Electronics go back to functioning normally. Then there is a building-wide flicker in the electricity. It goes out for only two seconds before powering back on.

The anonymous post, when the tenants come back to check it after the power flickers, has a sentence added to the end of it.}

Here at Bellum Letale, we rely on your feedback so that we are never operating in the dark when it comes to improving the lives of you, our tenants, and taking care of your concerns. Thank you for taking the time to participate!

anonymous feedback post 3

Hello, and welcome to the third Bellum Letale feedback post. Your concerns are very important to us. All comments will be made anonymous for resident privacy, and to promote honesty.

{The voice post this time is not a recording of the text of the post. There is silence for the first five seconds, and then what sounds like a record player kicks on. The pops and crackles unique to spinning vinyl enter the track. At first, there is only static.

Then the voices of children come in, soft and indistinct, seeming far away. They sound like they're playing, and their voices echo. Small, pounding footsteps come closer and closer, then scramble to a stop. They speak in hushed voices. The quality of the recording makes what they are saying difficult to make out. The listener can, however, easily identify the voice of a boy and two girls. The boy says "What is that?" and then something indistinct. The girl exclaims something excitedly, then "I'm dropping my nickle in!"

There is the sound of soft footsteps on stone, almost too quiet to hear, and then the girl's voice, suddenly clear, says "Wow! So deep."

There is a cracking sound. Then there is a shriek.

This is followed by a splash, then screaming, then another splash. A few more splashes follow, and the objects making them sound weighty.

For a moment things are quiet. A girl's voice can be heard sobbing, softly, for the next few minutes. She slowly eases to a stop, only hiccuping every once in a while. There are footsteps again, close, closer, and then the girl's voice is clear, as if she has suddenly stepped up to a hidden microphone, as she screams. It is an unholy, bloodcurdling noise. The voice of the boy is back, and he sounds light-hearted and happy despite the fact that his joyful exclamation mingles with her scream.

"C'mon in!"

There is a final splash, thrashing noises that start swift and then slow. Then silence. Silence. Silence. And the track clicks to a stop.}

anonymous feedback post 2

{Yet again, the post is text with a voice post attached. The voice post is, yet again, a computerized text-to-speech program reading the entry. Then it reads it again in Spanish. Then in Romanian, Russian, Romany, Yiddish, French, and Italian, ending abruptly after the last repetition.}

Welcome to the Bellum Letale feedback post. Your concerns are of the greatest importance. Anonymous commenting is encouraged to foster honesty, but is not required.

Thank you.

{This post appears on the boards with no room number attached. There is a blank space where there should be a sign-in. It also appears to have a voice post connected to it, but if the voice post is clicked, it's only a recording of a text-to-speech computer program reading the text of the post.}
