Hey all! So, I've just moved in -- or, I want to -- but the elevator is broken? (Maybe that's definitive, in which case, .) And I'm on the 5th floor (my mom was afraid someone could break in so I couldn't take the first floor, which I wanted, but why did she pick the fifth? Can anyone climb up that high? she's overprotective, I'm trying to get her in to family therapy but that's neither here nor there)... So, anyway, five flights are a lot of stairs. (Queen of understatement here!) So, I guess what I'm trying to figure out is: are New Yorkers as rude as they're rumored to be? HALP! how do I get the elevator to stop on my floor so I can move my things in?

Is anyone missing any property after the blackout?

I’m throwing a mild guess out there that you’re still bothered with that damned anonymous post. For that matter, Cole was right – you all really are a bunch of teenagers. People just don’t change.

As I’m sure you all noticed there was electronic trouble in the building last night. From what I can tell you all brushed it off. Fine, whatever. However, I need to double check something about the plumbing.

Is anyone – specifically the upper floors – having trouble with their water? I can’t seem to get cold water to flow from any of my taps. I’d ask our esteemed Landlord, but I’m fairly certain he wouldn’t do anything. I’d ask… Can someone just confirm if they’re experiencing this also and if so, where they are? Otherwise it’s just my apartment.

And I’m guessing again that no one here knows anything about pipes. No need to bother with that.

Oh, god; I haven’t used a computer in so long… why am I even doing this? I don’t want to meet anyone. I don’t even want to be here.

I noticed that this seems to be the mode of communication here, and new tenants use it to introduce themselves, so I guess now it’s my turn.

I’m Hannah, and I just moved into 1004 a couple of days ago. I know not everyone is a fan of animals although I can’t see why so I guess I should let the others on my floor know that I have a dog. He’s only a puppy, really, and doesn’t bark very much at all, so I don’t think he’ll be a bother. That doesn't give you permission to complain if you think he is, though.

Well… that’s about it.

...

Oh.
I look forward to meeting you all.

As suggested to me, I am asking for a team effort from the building at large to move large items from the first floor to the fifth, where I'm moving in. The elevator stoutly refuses to go any direction but down from the lobby, and since I don't have any intention of camping in the basement, here I am. The movers went home, but I will absolutely bribe any interested parties with beer, soda, pizza, and vegetarian lasagna.

Please let me know if you're interested in showing up, since I'll have a few friends from the department drop off my stuff in the lobby.

My name is Yun but you can call me Li because it is a little rude to call me Yun until we get to know-- I think it is easier to say for you. I recently moved and live in room 405. Hello!

Since I just arrived I do not have a job. I have also never been to New York before since I am from China. If you are bored or something maybe we can go act like tourists sometime even though we are not tourists! I think that might be fun.

Also if you need help since I have no job I have time. I was thinking about maybe if you know someone who is studying Chinese I could help. Or maybe if someone would like a sparring partner or coach for different gymnastics. Or maybe someone just needs extra help with something!

My door is open. Just knock! Also is the elevator broken? That seems very dangerous. It was nice to meet you!

[Message to 1007.]

Evening, Miss Singer.

I strongly advise you to not give up things you don't have to threatening anonymous strangers.

Friend to friend.

Can someone explain to me how I can make the elevator go to the floor that is indicated by the button label?
