Left on top of the mail-boxes this morning
[An envelope and a small brown bag, unsealed. The letter is adressed to Erik and the bag has 'Behind the Mask' written on it. The script is neat and in black ink.]
The letter and envelope are of feminine stationary, slightly anachronistic and the contents are as follows:
Dear Erik,
Forgive me - I didn't want to interrupt your composing. I only have a few minutes before the carriage comes and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to catch your attention. This note is the only one I have time to write - I just heard about my poor Mamma Valerius. She's not done well in recent years, because I've spent less time at home, but she's become ill. The doctor says it's influenza and ...she might not have the strength to get through it. She's practically raised me, as you know - I'm terrified of losing her. She's asked for me in her delirium to come back, despite what other engagements I have - I can't refuse her, when this may be her last request.
I'll be back in the morning, I promise - I'd rather remain, but I know I have to do this for her. Once I return, I'll be at the door of the Rue Scribe - if you're not too busy, will you wait there for me? You and your support will be what I will need after this.
Yours,
Christine

In the bag is a small bottle of NyQuil. A small sticky-note is put on it with the simple question, could this help?.
