Everything isn't going to be fine. She knows this just as well as she knows her own name; the real one, not the one everyone calls her by; not the fake, pretend thing she's turned into. She clutches the phone with shaky fingers, and she doesn't want to tell him what happened. She doesn't realize he knows, because she doesn't know that Daniel was ever actually at the hospital (only Rosalie, who probably told Daniel). She remembers it all through a haze, but she remembers, and it doesn't help the sobbing stop, the remembering.
"You can't come," she says, then, "just keep talkin.' Just a minute longer," she pleads. The nurse is at the door, and Boyd knows she'll only have the phone a little longer, and even that's only because they feel sorry for her.
